Responsibilities

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Certifications Program Consultant for our Helmsley Telehealth initiative in our Quality & Health IT department! This position can be remote/home based.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, grant funded opportunity. Current funding will expire on 9/30/2022.

This individual will be responsible for serving as the primary lead and providing expertise to develop and establish national standards of care for post-acute stroke rehabilitation. Responsible for overseeing the development of a certification program as well as standardizing care and treatment of patients who suffer a stroke and need rehabilitation.

  • Establish implementation plans for assigned projects. Monitors and reports on project/grant needs and deliverables. Provides consultant, direction and support as it relates to the quality of care for patients who suffer from a stroke and need rehabilitation

  • Collaborate with Director, Hospital Certification and VP, Quality & Health IT to establish processes in development of core standards for Post-Acute Stroke Certification

  • Complete and package the final draft standards following AHA’s process and prepare for field testing. Conduct a national and rural/regional landscape/readiness assessment for post-acute stroke care quality

  • Communicate the availability and benefits of AHA’s new Post-Acute Stroke Care Certification standards through various means, including but not limited to AHA’s website and white papers

  • Communicate regularly with leadership to assure tasks are completed according to grant timeline. Works with national staff partners through ongoing face-to-face meetings to ensure grant deliverables are being met according to timeline

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Seven (7) years of experience in healthcare or in a public health-related organization: clinical, quality improvement, program development and systems improvement

  • Five (5) years of project management experience; experienced in influencing performance without direct line accountability

  • Basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of AHA’s healthcare certification programs

  • Knowledge of stroke care and treatment guidelines

  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of American Heart Association staff, volunteers and the public

  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision
