The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Communications Manager .
In this role, you will be responsible for developing, planning and executing targeted media and communications strategies for an assigned AHA/ASA portfolios. Responsible for acting as media and marketing representative for the assigned program or issue.
Essential Job Duties:
Researches, plans, implements and evaluates strategic communication plans for assigned AHA initiatives and programs.
Develops strategies/tactics and executes through multiple communications channels including but not limited to media relations, internal communications and digital
Writes press releases, media advisories, blog posts, key messages, fact sheets and other content for targeted audiences, inclusive of national and local minority groups or multi-cultural outlets.
Develop strategies that will garner coverage in targeted media outlets and amplify the impact on AHA’s life-saving mission
Provides public relations, communications and storytelling counsel to internal constituents
Serves as communications lead for multiple, fast-moving projects at the same time

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Five (5) years of experience in marketing, communications or media relations in a large organization
Three (3) years of experience developing and implementing focused marketing or communications campaigns
Two (2) years of experience with proven ability to develop newsworthy ideas, write and pitch stories to media outlets
Three (3) years of demonstrated success in creating marketing or media plans
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
