The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Communications Manager .

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, planning and executing targeted media and communications strategies for an assigned AHA/ASA portfolios. Responsible for acting as media and marketing representative for the assigned program or issue.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Researches, plans, implements and evaluates strategic communication plans for assigned AHA initiatives and programs.

  • Develops strategies/tactics and executes through multiple communications channels including but not limited to media relations, internal communications and digital

  • Writes press releases, media advisories, blog posts, key messages, fact sheets and other content for targeted audiences, inclusive of national and local minority groups or multi-cultural outlets.

  • Develop strategies that will garner coverage in targeted media outlets and amplify the impact on AHA’s life-saving mission

  • Provides public relations, communications and storytelling counsel to internal constituents

  • Serves as communications lead for multiple, fast-moving projects at the same time

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

  • Five (5) years of experience in marketing, communications or media relations in a large organization

  • Three (3) years of experience developing and implementing focused marketing or communications campaigns

  • Two (2) years of experience with proven ability to develop newsworthy ideas, write and pitch stories to media outlets

  • Three (3) years of demonstrated success in creating marketing or media plans

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
