The AHA is looking for a proven sales management individual to fill the Vice President, Heart Walk position in our Denver office. This candidate will be responsible for directing and collaborating with internal staff, corporations, and community leaders to maximize efficiency, effectiveness, and fundraising efforts for the Denver Metro area. Accountable for managing top corporate accounts, securing cause sponsorships, identifying and recruiting volunteer leadership, and for holding others accountable to their fundraising goals and objectives.
Job duties include:
Develop and implement agreed-upon goals and objectives for the area to enhance the efficiency of the revenue generation, programs, and community mobilization activities of the Affiliate.
Responsible for $2.3 Million Fundraising Goal for Denver Heart and Stroke Walk, the AHA’s largest fundraising initiative in Colorado.
Oversee and manage Executive Leadership Team for Heart Walk comprised of c-suite level executives from local business community
Manage top level corporate accounts and executive volunteers to achieve fundraising success.
Manage/supervise assigned staff. Recruit, interview, hire, orient, provide training as appropriate, evaluate, counsel, provide discipline as needed, and terminate as necessary.
Meet with staff on a regular basis to review the status of goals and objectives and to recommend changes or approaches which will enhance the efficiency and the effectiveness of its program activity, revenue generation and public information efforts.
Attend meetings and provide leadership and guidance.
Oversee all logistics and budgets related to events.
Perform other duties and special assignments as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ½ years’ experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.
Must have at least 3 years of experience in outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position ’ s educational requirement.
Must have at least 1 year of experience in a management capacity. This experience may occur within the 4-year related experience requirement. Experience gained through direct internal work on AHA projects/priorities may substitute for this requirement and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Daily travel up to 75%.
Must have the ability to lift at least 20 lbs. from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office 2013 used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to lead, guide and inspire staff and volunteers to achieve goals and objectives.
Work as a player and coach on the team; responsible for driving revenue personally and managing staff to meet revenue targets.
Ability to participate in meetings, work in a team environment and interact with all levels of AHA staff, volunteers and the public.
Ability to develop long-term and short-term goals, follow them through and develop performance objectives to support them.
Ability to conceptualize, reason through problems, make effective decisions and develop alternative solutions.
Ability to train and supervise staff.
Ability to maintain a rigorous goal-oriented management approach.
Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout assigned field territories.
Ability and willingness to work irregular hours and attend meetings beyond the framework of the normal working schedule.
Demonstrated experience, skills or aptitude in sales and/or marketing.
Skilled in effective oral communications including conversing by telephone and conducting presentations to large and small groups.
Skilled in effective written communications, including business writing, clear and concise narrative reports, evaluations and other narrative pieces.
