American Heart Association Health Strategies Coordinator in Eagan, Minnesota

We are currently hiring for a Health Strategies Coordinator in our Twin Cities (Eagan, MN) office. Under guidance of Health Strategies VP, the Health Strategies Coordinator will support execution of strategies for several campaigns/events within the territory (GRFW, CycleNation, Hard Hats with Hearts, etc.) including earned media, social media, paid media, PSAs, messaging and storytelling. This person will also serve as ambassador for AHA brand working closely with external volunteers, media, donors, sponsors and the general public.

This is a full-time position with a 37.5 hour work week and offers a hybrid schedule. Competitive salary is offered.

  • Work with communications team to manage social media accounts. Update regularly with messages on advocacy, health topics and local events. Engage with followers and friends of AHA. Ensure local videos are closed captioned prior to publishing. Review posts and staff partner requests for posts to ensure compliance with branding and UBIT rules.

  • Provide communications support or consultation to assigned market(s), sharing script, press releases and other templates. Review materials. Manage communication for market events and issues as assigned – working with development staff and writing event script/program, consulting on video production and event messaging, social media and run of show (i.e. for events like Go Red Luncheon)

  • Help write/distribute news releases, letters to the editor, talking points, action alerts and other media and advocacy materials to local media, volunteers and partners.

  • Coordinate awareness campaigns (such as national icon days/buzz events, PSAs Buildings Go Red initiative) in coordination with market staff. Help secure media participation in AHA events by identifying volunteer spokespeople and human interest and science stories, as appropriate. Help develop and manage relationships with local media.

  • Track and compile relevant media highlights and social media updates to share with volunteers, staff and sponsors. Establish and maintain superior customer service relations with volunteers, sponsors, donors and the public by providing professional and friendly assistance, with proactive resolution of issues or needs. Respond to inquiries regarding volunteer opportunities.

  • Provide direct administrative support to Health Strategies VP, Communications Director and Community Impact Directors such as meeting & event coordination/logistics/scheduling, expense reporting, etc.

  • Provide direct administrative support to Executive Director as it relates to Board and specific key volunteer communication. Responsibilities include meeting & event coordination/communications/material prep/etc.


  • 2 years of related administrative experience preferred; New graduates are welcome and encouraged to apply.

  • Must have earned a high school diploma or GED.

  • Experience and skill in using a database management system, preferably a CRM specific program.

  • Must have at least intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge and skill with these programs is preferred. These skills are subject to testing.

  • Ability to manage social media platforms for professional use - Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects.

  • Skill and ability in providing customer service at an excellent level to internal and external customers and partners, including excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20lbs.
