American Heart Association Chief of Clinical Science in Fayetteville, Arkansas
Are you ready to join an organization where you can be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives?
Clinical research holds untold potential to advance biomedical science in the US, but continues to be prohibitively expensive, difficult to evaluate and monitor, and subject to bias as mobile health technology and precision medicine increasingly take center-stage. As a new era of highly inter-connected yet individualized public health approaches, insufficient participation in clinical trials and the complex interplay of influencing factors on enrollment and retention remain urgent challenges. Recognizing these shortcomings, the American Heart Association (AHA) is currently seeking innovations to put the patient/consumer and his/her data at the center of medical research to help accelerate the design and conduct of clinical trials.
The AHA is unique in its position at the intersection of scientific research, patient engagement, healthcare system engagement, technology, public outreach, and quality improvement to yield novel approaches rapidly and efficiently to clinical research and trials, the formal evaluation of health technology, and innovative patient engagement approaches.
Notably, patients/consumers within the AHA have demonstrated a strong willingness to engage in a more connected manner with the research community, participate in clinical trials, and donate their unique experiences and health data in gestures of philanthropy and empowerment. The research potential provided by these recruitment portals can accelerate the science AHA has invested in and support our long-term research collaborators whose intellect and ingenuity will lead the way in better outcomes for the cardiovascular and stroke patients, and health consumers we collectively serve.
Innovating in the new healthcare economy will require modernizing care delivery, redefining the role of patients in their own care, engaging consumers in their maintenance of health, as well as developing new partnerships to convene industry leaders in health and technology to foster dialogue and inspire increased collaboration through new research and clinical models.
