The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a grant funded, part-time Healthy Heart Ambassador working in Workplace Health in the Eastern North Carolina area. The position will work 20-25 hours per week for 8 months.
In this role, you will identify and execute AHA programs and strategies to support corporate wellness such as the Workplace Health Achievement Index, the Healthy Food and Beverage toolkit, and employee virtual education and challenges addressing the major health risk factors of a company’s employees. You will work closely with grants administration team and identified company Human Resources staff to cultivate meaningful wellness programs and incentives. You will also be responsible for executing corporate wellness specific engagement strategies and directing employee measurable health outcomes. These opportunities are mutually beneficial in that they advance the AHA’s mission and goals by aligning AHA priority initiatives with the needs of the company in the areas of building a Culture of Health for employees.
Some of your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
Drive organizational change through employers to build a culture of health by adopting and completing AHA’s Workplace Health Achievement Index and addressing health risk areas of concern for each identified company.
Lead engagement of C-Suite and target corporate leaders to drive wellness/health improvement strategies with measurable outcomes. Coach company team on use of Virtual Library of Health Lessons and Challenges to address Blood Pressure, Physical Activity, Healthy Eating and Mental Resilience.
Support individual companies in identifying and changing company policies that impact the health risk factor needs identified such as Smoke Free policies and Healthy Food Guideline.
Serve as the account manager with the target corporate partners to drive measurable results and identify volunteer opportunities, develop year-round engagement strategy that align with the companies’ objectives and lead strategies for deepening engagement across corporate wellness/health.
Build and implement plans for policy, system or environment change driving toward opportunities for health impact.
Provide progress reports on grant goals for each identified company to grants management team for monthly meetings.
Participate in corporate/worksite coalitions and partnerships in the market.
Other duties as assigned.

BS/BA required, with three years of proven success in corporate/workplace wellness, corporate engagement, and executive relationship development.
Experience in executing corporate wellness strategies that drive measurable improvement of employee health and related financial health costs.
Knowledge of strategies to create a culture of health in a corporate/workplace setting.
Project and account management experience focused on delivering results and quality customer service with defined deliverables and milestones.
Interact effectively with high level corporate executives, community leaders, and volunteers.
Manage and motivate diverse groups and individuals and work successfully as a leader in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong customer service orientation, with extensive experience in effectively addressing, negotiating, and resolving issues as they arise.
Ability to respond appropriately and effectively to changing circumstances and priorities.
Ability to analyze and integrate information from relevant sources and make appropriate decisions.
Experience working with multicultural and underserved communities preferred. Experience in community led programs, projects, or events.
Proficient in MS Office products.
