Responsibilities

Are you ready to take your event operations and leadership experience to the next level? The American Heart Association is looking for a Vice President, Event Services who will provide leadership and event operations support to our event operations team through streamlined approaches and services for major fundraising events, in person and/or virtual for the southeast region.

Responsibilities include developing and providing consistent messaging to our southeast region and event operations staff to drive excellence in event processes including, but not limited to, logistics and event operations, improved volunteer management, budget management, training and resource development, and policies and procedures. Build a network of collaboration and support to ensure our events run smoothly and efficiently to improve the overall attendee experience and corporate partnership development. Uphold strong and positive relationships with internal fundraising staff and third-party partners. Responsible for event operations best practices, tools, and resources. Continuously, develop and implement a quality and comprehensive training program for event operations staff.

Some of your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Team Management - Team strategy/collaboration and manage direct reports to ensure development operation functions are efficient, effective, innovative, and aligned with National and overarching regional goals. Lead vision, strategy, tactics, and business intelligence for designated team.

  • Oversee creation of centralized event materials, including PPT presentations, event collateral and marketing materials. Includes monitoring existing materials for any process improvement opportunities.

  • Ensure implementation of required event operational processes and compliance.

  • Management of event operational training content and providing training to existing and new event operations staff.

  • Create, manage, and lead event operations budget, including tracking and reporting, collaborating with team members to streamline budget needs including assisting with contract negotiation and contract review.

  • Develop/Coach standard regional-wide event execution practices to be used with all events both in person and virtual.

  • Lead on developing SharePoint communication coordination, design, ease of use, and updated information on all event operations material.

In this role, you will report to the Sr. Vice President of Business Operations and Development Services and will directly manage a team of four with a roll-up of 16 event operations staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5-8 years of experience in non-profit event support and execution, with 3+ years of managerial experience.

  • Ability to work in a cross functional team environment.

  • Excellent listening skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, negotiating, problem-solving and decision-making.

  • Highly effective organizational skills, time management, responsibility, leadership, and motivation.

  • Ability to work outside of standard hours which may involve some evenings and/or weekends.

  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the southeast region onsite to events when it is safe to do so.
