American Heart Association Senior Corporate Initiatives Director in Los Angeles, California

The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Corporate Initiatives Director within our Western States Region based in Los Angeles, California. This position requires the ability to travel within assigned territory and travel outside territory to attend indoor/outdoor event-related activities, training sessions, and/or meetings/conferences, which may involve overnight stays and/or weekends. The noise level varies across internal and external work sites.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Senior Corporate Initiatives Director is responsible for the overall management, execution, and growth of an assigned portfolio. This will be done in collaboration with the Los Angeles division team, Western States and National internal and external partners across functional areas to optimally achieve goals.


  • Works actively and collaboratively to ensure effective and timely achievement of account deliverables across accounts and direct account service to assigned key companies aligned with revenue growth goals.

  • Oversees corporate accounts functions to generate a positive return on investment and increased fundraising revenue with the goal to renew and/or grow accounts through balanced revenue streams to ensure overall revenue goals are achieved/exceeded. Builds and expands identified strategic relationships that result in new and renewable accounts. Effectively integrates strategic plan priorities and existing initiatives/activities. Recommends and drives innovative approaches to drive total revenue and health impact.

  • Establishes and develops effective working partnerships with staff and volunteer leads through effective, regular communication and presence, availability, and accessibility to activate sponsorship, meet/exceed contract deliverables, communicate responsibilities and requirements of field staff, ensure that all timelines and deadlines are met, and ensure top level customer service. Manages and facilitates assigned account team meetings to ensure effective execution of contract deliverables. Provides comprehensive ROI reports for each assigned account.

  • Orchestrates meaningful executive involvement and identifies the key stakeholders who need to be stewarded at all levels of the account. Demonstrates depth and quality of professional relationship development skills inclusive of building trust, rapport, and social appropriateness.

  • Develops and manages customized stewardship plans for corporate accounts in portfolio, ensuring sufficient depth for revenue generation, employee wellness program engagement, corporate volunteerism, employee giving, mission engagement opportunities and excellent customer relations. Opportunities are identified beyond the local market that support of overall organizational objectives and strategic plan to move the mission forward and that match the interest/need of the company, organization, donor or volunteer.

  • Drives and manages all aspects of account contract renewals, inspires company leadership to grow their investment and drive entire strategy around renewal working closely with appropriate team members.

  • Provides management expertise, coaching, and monitoring of account management. Remains current with business and sponsorship industry trends.

  • Regularly evaluates and reports on campaign progress utilizing the campaign management tools and reporting systems available. Ensures the integrity and security of donor information and adheres to established policies and procedures.

  • Operates in accordance with the AHA's Fiscal Standard policies and all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in corporate account management, sales and/or marketing with

  • Demonstrated track record in building effective teams of staff and volunteers

  • Demonstrated track record in setting and achieving aggressive goals on a sustained basis independently as well as through and with volunteers.

  • Ability to influence others to action through creating a shared vision and sense of ownership and personal accountability.

  • Ability to credibly establish and execute a strategic plan across functional areas and disciplines in a complex and highly dynamic environment, effectively translating strategies to measurable goals and plans.

  • Proven ability to think strategically, analyze market data, identify key trends, and have participated in the strategy development and execution of initiatives to achieve fundraising and operational goals.

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Communications and Marketing or related field

  • Knowledge of AHA’s mission and programs

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, CRM experience helpful
