The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Director Giving Societies and Donor Engagement based out of our National Center office. This position can be remote but must be near a located near a major airport. This individual will be responsible for the strategic growth, development and operational leadership of the Cor Vitae and Paul Dudley White Legacy Society programs across the association, including growth, retention, revenue increase and recognition of members. Responsible for the development of a centralized national Cor Vitae & PDWLS marketing and communications program targeted at donors and prospective donors.
Identifies the activities and implements the strategies that constitute a robust and quality national Cor Vitae Society and Paul Dudley White Legacy Society (PDWLS) donor recognition programs through strategic planning, partnering with internal constituents (National and Affiliate Consultants, Directors of Major Gifts and Directors of Donor Engagement, and other key stakeholders), activating external constituents (members, prospective members) and other creative stewardship & cultivation strategies to ensure a best in class annual and legacy giving program
Owns responsibility for overall Giving Societies goals (Cor Vitae Society and PDWLS). Work with priority markets (as determined by National Executive Lead, Giving Societies, and other key MA leadership) to focus on the highest impact priorities in order to drive goal achievement, while effectively balancing a strategic (big picture) focus with day-to-day execution
Work with internal and external partners to develop strategies to significantly increase AHA’s Giving Societies impact. Interfacing closely with the key MA and Development stakeholders and Giving Societies Consultants, drive stewardship and cultivation strategies to build greater awareness among members and prospects, related but not limited to: developing key strategies for volunteer engagement, assessing key population segments and timetables for targeted marketing and communications to internal and external partners
Partners with the National Executive Lead, Giving Societies to monitor and analyze external and internal trends and develop benchmarks, best practices, priorities and focus areas for top markets. Interfacing closely with the key MA and Development stakeholders and Giving Societies Consultants, drive stewardship and cultivation strategies to build greater awareness among members and prospects, related but not limited to: developing key strategies for volunteer engagement, assessing key population segments and timetables for targeted marketing and communications to internal and external partners. Takes ownership to drive sound organizational accounting of Cor Vitae and PDWLS numbers and helps drive an annual strategic evaluation and planning processes for top markets
Provides consultation as needed for Blackbaud as well as other projects and responsibilities as requested
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Eight (8) years of experience in the field of fundraising special events or individual giving
Five (5) years of experience in quality marketing and communications
Competent in business English, spelling, grammar and punctuation
Excellent written and oral communication skills Budget development and oversight experience
Small donor portfolio required
Ability to travel up to 40% local and overnight stay
Ability to meet and deal with all levels of organization staff and volunteers Excellent PC/word-processing skills in appropriate software Ability to prioritize assigned projects/tasks
Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives Capability to travel nationally
Previous experience as an Executive Director
